Georg-August-Universität Göttingen does not provide guaranteed accommodation in student dormitories or housing of any kind to incoming students.

The host university advises:

  • in Göttingen it is difficult to find affordable accommodation. 
  • the housing market is very competitive, particularly at the beginning of the winter semester during the months of September, October and November, so it is advisable to start looking for accommodation as soon as possible.
  • rooms in student dormitories operated by the Studentenwerk are very reasonably priced at €200 to €300. Rental costs for private housing are higher. 
  • rooms in flat-shares easily cost between €300 and €450 (if not more), apartments are about €400 -€600 per month, depending on the location and amenities.
