Sichuan University

Sichuan University (SCU), located in Chengdu, China, was founded in 1896. It consists of three campuses: Wangjiang, Huaxi and Jiang'an, boasting comprehensive facilities and a picturesque environment that provides an exceptional setting for teaching and research.

The university offers a complete spectrum of 13 academic disciplines, covering many fields such as literature, science, engineering, medicine, economics, management and law. It has rich teaching resources and strong teachers, and its research level in natural science, engineering technology, humanities and social sciences, medicine, and other fields is in the leading position in China. There are over 38,000 full-time undergraduate students, over 33,000 master's and doctoral students, and nearly 3,000 foreign students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.

Committed to global engagement, SCU fosters international collaboration, sending nearly 2,000 students annually to study at top institutions. A preferred destination for international students, it has enrolled over 18,000 degree-seeking students from abroad since 2000.

How much will it cost to go on exchange to SCU?

You will need to consider establishment costs, which may include buying furniture, paying a rental bond, and setting up electricity, gas and mobile phone accounts. Other expenses, such as visa and medical fees (see ‘Health insurance’, below), as well as return airfares, should also be considered. Students are advised to research the cost of living in China, and remember that exchange rate variations may also affect your budget.

As part of the exchange application process, students are required to undergo a number of medical tests and complete a physical examination form. Students are responsible for meeting the cost of medical tests and completion of the form by a physician.
