Universität Wien

Founded in 1365 Universität Wien (University of Vienna) is the oldest University in the modern German-speaking world and the largest research institution in Austria. It is home to more than 94,000 students – 28,000 international students among them.

UW is particularly renowned for its strength in the Humanities, Arts, and Mathematics, and is currently associated with 16 Nobel Prize winners. The university is sited within 63 locations across the city, all of which are connected by Vienna’s tram and bus network. The city is cycle-friendly and students are encouraged to sign-up to the CityBike scheme, with bikes located at stations across the city with the first hour of usage free of charge.

  • For English Literature/Language students: Teaching is available in English. Students should be able to take a full course load in English at this institution
     
  • For Mathematics and German students: The teaching language is German. Students will be expected undertake teaching entirely in German at this institution so must meet minimum language requirements. 
     
  • For Law students: Some courses may be available in English but you are unlikely to be able to take a full course load in English at this institution - therefore, you must meet minimum language requirements.
