University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC)

University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university to open its doors in China. Established in 2004, with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education, it is run by the University of Nottingham in partnership with Zhejiang Wanli Education Group, a key player in the education sector in China.

UNNC has over 9,000 students and more than 7% are from China's Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan regions and other overseas countries. Sixty percent of UNNC students have spent a semester or a year living and studying in a different country.

Private accommodation

The University guarantees on-campus accommodation for full-time international students. Students are eligible to be considered off-campus residence if they meet one of the categories below:

1) Students with partner and/or children

2) Students who have other immediate families living in Ningbo

3) PhD students

How much will it cost to go on exchange to UNNC?

You will need to consider establishment costs, which may include buying furniture, paying a rental bond, and setting up electricity, gas and mobile phone accounts. Other expenses, such as visa and medical fees (see ‘Health insurance’, below), as well as return airfares, should also be considered. Students are advised to research the cost of living in China, and remember that exchange rate variations may also affect your budget. 

Visa considerations

You should expect to pay a processing fee to obtain your study visa for China.  Visa requirements can vary depending on your nationality.  

Health insurance

All international students must be covered by ‘Comprehensive International Student Insurance of China Pacific Insurance (Group) Co., Ltd (CPIC) for their whole study period. CPIC shall undertake the following insurance liabilities during the period of insurance: death insurance, accidental disability insurance, medical insurance for accidental injury, outpatient, emergency and hospitalization.
