Limited university accommodation, early application recommended

Universität Hamburg's host institution advises that affordable accommodation in Hamburg can be difficult to find, so you should start your search as early as possible.

Each semester, Studierendenwerk Hamburg makes a limited number of rooms available to exchange students. Applying is recommended, but a room cannot be guaranteed.

You should also look for private accommodation alongside your application to Studierendenwerk.

Most students live in a shared apartment (Wohngemeinschaft, or WG), a private apartment or a student residence. Shared accommodation normally means sharing the kitchen, bathroom and other communal areas with other residents.
