Fudan University

Fudan University is located outside of downtown Shanghai. It includes four campuses for sciences, humanities, medicine and software, and is near Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai Foreign Studies University, Shanghai Finance and Economy University and Shanghai Sports University.

Restrictions

Students of Chinese nationality are not eligible to participate in Fudan University's inbound exchange programme.


The primary language of instruction at this institution is Chinese (Mandarin).


Chinese language students will take a language test after registration at Fudan, and will be placed at different levels according to their language ability.

Students who are placed at Levels A through D (ABCD) will still take non-degree program language courses.  These students will be provided with a timetable and take reading, listening, writing, speaking courses as required.

Students who are placed at Level E or above have demonstrated language proficiency sufficient to meet the Fudan’s requirement for international students for undertaking Chinese-taught courses, and will be granted access to a broader curriculum.

How much will it cost to go on exchange to Fudan?

You will need to consider establishment costs, which may include buying furniture, paying a rental bond, and setting up electricity, gas and mobile phone accounts. Other expenses, such as visa and medical fees (see ‘Health insurance’, below), as well as return airfares, should also be considered. Students are advised to research the cost of living in China, and remember that exchange rate variations may also affect your budget.

Visa considerations

You should expect to pay a processing fee to obtain your study visa for China.  Visa requirements can vary depending on your nationality.  More information is available in Fudan's factsheet.

Health insurance

All exchange students are required to purchase a compulsory medical insurance plan.
