Education Beyond Borders (EBB) is one way the University of Edinburgh responds to global displacement in higher education – supporting students whose studies have been disrupted and academics who have been forced to leave their institutions or countries. We do this by delivering funding, support, and collaborative and community-led initiatives for displaced scholars.

We offer programmes for both undergraduate and postgraduate students who have been displaced or are at risk.

Support is a core part of EBB. From welcome to graduation, we support students throughout their time in Edinburgh.

We work with a range of organisations to support displaced scholars and to share knowledge and information.

Our ongoing research agenda focuses on forced migration, refugee education and refugee mental health, and their intersection with higher education.
