USA Development Trust The University of Edinburgh USA Development Trust is an independent non-profit organisation based in the United States. It has supported teaching, research and student activities at the University of Edinburgh since 1992 through scholarships and gifts. Insights Programme for Widening Participation students The Insights Programme helps Widening Participation students in their second year of undergraduate study develop the confidence, skills and connections by sending students to NYC, Washington DC and Boston. Tartan Day Tartan Day has emerged as an important day to celebrate Scottish influence and the Scottish diaspora across North America each April. Public lectures Our partnerships with the USA have enabled academics and experts to conduct lectures in Edinburgh. Policy dialogue The University supports policy dialogue by acting as an independent, evidence-based broker between academic researchers and policymakers, facilitating the exchange of knowledge to address complex societal challenges. We provide this support through structured mechanisms such as policy updates, training for researchers, and by convening events that connect experts with government officials at local, national, and international levels.
