Celebrate European Day of Languages 2026

Celebrate European Day of Languages 2026 with Una Europa

Registrations are now open for Una Europa’s celebration of the European Day of Languages 2026, taking place on Friday 25 September!

Join colleagues from across the Una Europa alliance for a relaxed and engaging celebration of multilingualism, with opportunities to discover a new language, meet fellow language enthusiasts and explore the role of languages in European higher education.

Try a new language

Take part in a 45-minute introductory ‘taster’ session in one of Una Europa’s official languages - or venture further afield and try something completely new!

Sessions will be led by qualified language tutors from across the alliance and are open to all University of Edinburgh staff and students, whatever your level or previous experience. Whether you’re a complete beginner or simply curious to learn something different, everyone is welcome.

Multilingualism in action

The programme also features a panel discussion on multilingualism in European Universities Alliances, bringing together academic experts from across Una Europa.

Speakers include colleagues from the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures and the Centre for Open Learning, who will explore the opportunities and challenges of putting multilingualism into practice across European higher education.

Date: Friday 25 September 2026
Who can attend: All University of Edinburgh staff and students
Registration deadline: Wednesday 23 September, 17:00 CEST
